MG Motor reaches 1 million car deliveries after relaunch under SAIC umbrella
A million MG hearts in Europe: How the British "octagon" conquered the roads of the Old Continent and Romania
15 years after returning to the European market under the wing of the giant SAIC Motor, MG Motor marks a historic moment: the delivery of car number 1,000,000. What seemed in 2011 to be a risky bet by a British brand with history, but in a state of adrift, has turned into one of the biggest market successes of the decade.
Today, MG is no longer just a memory of classic roadsters, but a force present in 34 European markets, supported by a network of over 1,300 partners.
The recipe for success: MG ZS and the Hybrid+ offensive
The driving force behind this explosive growth was undoubtedly the MG ZS compact SUV. With over 424,000 units sold, the ZS became the brand's "standard" for affordability and features.
But 2025 brought a new paradigm shift: Hybrid+ technology. Last year alone, the hybrid range generated deliveries of 139,000 units, demonstrating that Europeans are looking for efficient transition solutions that do not depend exclusively on charging infrastructure for electric cars.
MG in Romania: The "Best-seller" from the East
In Romania, the MG story officially began only recently, but the numbers are impressive. With over 6,500 units sold and a solid network of 31 dealers, MG has managed to establish itself as the leader of Chinese brands (also with British DNA) on the local market.
The local success is cemented by several major milestones:
- MG4 Electric: The model was designated "Car of the Year 2024 in Romania", a premiere that validated the quality and performance of the electric hatchback in front of the specialized jury.
- "Triple 7" Warranty: A decisive argument for Romanians — 7 years of full warranty (or 150,000 km), 7 years of roadside assistance and 7 years of free technical checks.
- Affordability: In a market dominated by price increases, MG remained a competitive alternative.

Leaders' vision: "Evolution and accessibility"
For the management of Quantum Auto Max, the official importer in Romania, the one million mark is just the beginning.
"Reaching the threshold of 1 million units delivered in Europe confirms the strength of a brand that has managed to combine British tradition with innovation and technological accessibility," said Dan Chitaru, CEO of Quantum Auto Max.
George Damian, general manager, emphasizes the rapid adaptation of the Romanian public: "The growing interest in the Hybrid+ range confirms that the local market is ready for efficient solutions. We aim to consolidate this trajectory through continuous investments in the network."
What's next for MG?
Plans for the rest of 2026 include launching new models in key segments and strengthening the after-sales infrastructure. With growth of almost 30% at the European level in the last year, MG is no longer the “newcomer” who needs to prove himself, but a top player putting pressure on traditional manufacturers.
